Don Garton CFP®, ChFC®, CRPs®
Don is the founding partner of AIM and has over 25 years of experience as a financial advisor. He has a history of building and maintaining trusting relationships with his clients because he believes that clients are best served when they are in a continuing relationship with a financial advisor.
Don has chosen to further his knowledge and skill set by studying for and earning the following designations: Certified Financial Planner™, Chartered Financial Consultant®, Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist™. He has also been the recipient of numerous professional awards and distinctions.
Don received a B.S. from the University of Missouri and M.Div. from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Outside of work, Don enjoys spending time and traveling with his family. He is actively involved in his church and serves as a board member on the Kentucky Social Welfare Foundation, the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary Women’s Center and chairs the mid-Kentucky Presbytery Finance Committee.

Billy Fowler
Billy graduated from Centre College and has been in the insurance and financial services business since. He got his start in the industry at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter in the late 90’s. He then chose to start his own business in 2003. Along with financial services, he started The Benefits Firm with the objective of creating the most prominent, customer service driven firm in the region. Billy is active in the community and participates in several civic organizations. Formerly, Billy served as the president of the Saint Matthews Chamber of Commerce. He is a strong advocate for children's charities, specifically Kosair Charities, West End School and the YMCA.
Billy is happily married to his wife Erin and has three children, Madison, Morgan, and B. Erin. Billy is an avid runner and has completed over a dozen marathons all over the United States. He is passionate about food and enjoys walking through the Highlands, Nulu, and Germantown to various local eateries.
A fun fact about Billy is that he loves turtles. He has had several turtles and tortoises as pets. He also has been an advocate for various species of sea turtles. He has donated to and visited several sea turtle organizations throughout the country.
Billy is passionate about business and prides himself as a client advocate for both individuals and small business owners.
Michael Garton
Michael grew up in Louisville and has worked around the country in various roles for public and private sector organizations including Louisville Metro Government, the Kentucky House of Representatives, private healthcare companies, and partisan, non-partisan, and issue-oriented campaigns.
Michael has experience in publishing, federal compliance work, media relations, campaign management. Currently, he assists all aspects of our firm to ensure that we continue to develop our approach to client support.
Lisa Heffley
Lisa has worked in the financial services industry for over 30 years. She graduated from The University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration and Psychology. Her experience in financial services includes holding various management positions in the areas of sales support and marketing, research, administration, and operations with several Fortune 500 companies. Lisa started her career with Raymond James Financial in the Retirement Accounts department, moving into management positions in the Shareholder Services area. She has worked as a business analyst for The Guardian Life Insurance Company, as Director of Licensing and Commissions for Aegon, and Director of Competitive Intelligence for Western & Southern Life’s Annuity Division.
Prior to joining Advantage Investment Management, she also worked as an independent consultant focusing on market intelligence for top life insurance companies. Lisa has been with Advantage Investment Management since 2013, working with advisors in the areas of investment research, portfolio review and analysis, administration, and operations and sales support. Lisa holds series’ 7, 63, and 65 FINRA registrations in addition to her Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation from the American College of Financial Services. She is licensed as a life insurance agent in the state of Kentucky. Utilizing her experience and expertise, Lisa is now focused on helping clients achieve their financial goals.
In her spare time, Lisa enjoys playing USTA league tennis, pickleball, yoga, and fitness walking. She is on the Board of Trustees and the Investment Committee of The Temple in Louisville, KY.
Alex Cole
Alex joined Advantage Investment Management after completing a Bachelor of Science in Business Economics and Marketing with a minor in International Business all from the University of Kentucky. He will be working as an operations associate with the firm. In college he was a founding father of Phi Delta Theta and studied abroad in Spain for a semester. He has been employed as a middle school teacher in the Louisville school system and is coming from Fidelity Investments where he gained his first experience in financial services. His career path has given him a great understanding of wanting to help people. It has also bolstered his communication skills.
Alex has lived in Louisville for most of his life and really has grown to love the city. Tom Sawyer park is a place he tends to spend a lot of time playing tennis and soccer. He strives to learn something new every day in order to expand his horizons. He also enjoys exploring nature and testing out local food places.
